General Election: Malaysia Does Not Need To Emulate Turkey

Turkey's election campaign is deemed safe by the Vice President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Nurul Izzah Anwar really depends on the mentality of the leaders of the political party itself.

Malay Malaysian Consultative Council Chairman, Datuk Dr. Kamarudin Kachar said if the opposition leaders of thought in Turkey shallow like Nurul Izzah then peace will not be available.

"All these years we held the election fairly, but there are those who claim otherwise. Then, they are creating problems such as assembly combination for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) July 9 is supposed to demand justice.

"Therefore, we need not follow any country if we want peaceful elections because it is the mentality of the political leaders themselves," he said when contacted here today.

Kamarudin said Nurul Izzah actually pierced nose like cattle being too obsessed with the work of the DAP and did not realize he was only used for a particular purpose.

He was responding to calls Nurul Izzah published a newspaper yesterday for the government to follow Turkey's election to deem peace during the campaign, even in the most volatile areas.

According to PKR vice-president, the police and FRU Turkey squad to act in a professional manner without affecting the mob, but they just stop and wait for police to arrive and mobs mobs will be prosecuted.

Secretary General of Federation of Peninsular Malay Students (GPMS), Zambri Mohd. Jesus said, the fact Nurul Izzah who want Malaysia to follow Turkey's electoral system should be rejected altogether.

"Election campaign here is safe, but there are some individuals who intentionally create problems when the forthcoming elections.

"If the electoral system in our country bias, how the opposition can win in several states," he said.

Asked about the Bersih rally to be held July 9, he questioned why the Chairman of the Net, Datuk S. Ambiga was so excited to do a street demonstration.

"Did he think the impact of the event and eight claims requested by the Net is not relevant at all among the 21-day campaign period, it is something that does not make sense," he said.
